“Jil” Sander is a minimalist German fashion designer and the founder of the Jil Sander fashion house.
Refusing an artistic or political approach to her work, she designs elegant, sober, modern and practical clothes, which will classify her in the “modernists” and “minimalists” movement present in the fashion of the 1980s to the 1990s. She uses choice textiles for her collections, favoring above all the silhouette, far from a fashion present around that time full of details, prints or patterns: « At the beginning, it was the lack of practicality of the ode that made me draw my own line. I thought it was more interesting to cut clothes for a three-dimensional body than to cover it with decorative ideas ».
