Self-taught, he took over the Balenciaga house after Josephus Thimister. Nicolas Ghesquière redefines the line of this legendary house which, since 2001, has been part of the French luxury group Kering. By giving new life to the Balenciaga house, Nicolas Ghesquière enters the closed circle of fashion superstars, designers on whom he must now be counted. Intriguing, original and gifted, he delivers pioneering work in terms of trends. Its fashion, both chic and avant-garde, elitist and futuristic, reflects a unique imagination, notably imbued with science fiction, the Star Wars film or even the cult series L’Âge de Cristal.
Sport is also part of his influences, as evidenced by his sheated and strapped clothes with sportswear cuts.
